Have you ever had or seen a deck in the rain that is looking nice but then your eyes are drawn to those wooden steps, the rain dripping off them and wonder – “That’s slippery….” Maybe you worry about people slipping on those steps? Whether it’s wood, concrete or metal those steps can be subject to mud, algae or other grime that could be dangerous to users.

We’ve found one product that might be a solution.  Redco FRP distributes a stair cover called DURATREAD™ which is designed to be placed over old stairs, providing additional safety and traction. The stair treads come in 8″-12″ depths and 12′ lengths (for cutting on site). However, the manufacturer could cut lengths on request and can provide customized DURATREAD™. These treads are bonded to the stair with an adhesive that bonds fiberglass and whatever substrate (metal, wood, concrete) the stairs are made of.

DURATREAD™ comes standard dark grey with yellow nosing but can be made in other colour combinations and does not have to be two-tone. The surface is coated with an aluminum oxide grit and the molded fiberglass design means it should last many years. Besides homeowners, the treads are valuable to business for use in public locations people frequent including hospitals, waterparks, outdoor attractions, lodgings, and public sports facilities.
